Red clouds over NaMo’s meetings on March 27
GAYA: With theCPI (Maoist) giving a 24-hour Bihar bandh call on March 27,  Red clouds hover over the scheduled election meetings of BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi (NaMo) at Gaya, Sasaram and Aurangabad on that day. According to Gaya district BJP chief Jainendra Kumar, he would discuss the bandh issue with state leadership to assess the impact of the bandh on the election meeting. He virtually ruled out rescheduling/deferment of the meeting in view of the Maoist bandh.
The bandh call has been given by the Maoists to register protest against the ongoing police operation and killing of its activists at the hands of rival outfits allegedly enjoying tacit police support. When contacted, Gaya SSP Nishant Tiwari said that Gaya Gandhi Maidan, the BJP meeting venue, was far away from the Red belt and as such, the bandh was unlikely to affect the meeting in any significant manner. But meet organizers expect participation of BJP supporters from all over the district and almost the entire Sherghati subdivision and part of the Tekari subdivision continue to have a significant presence of the Red rebels.
Moreover, during bandhs, the Maoists ensure that vehicles, including two-wheelers, do not ply on the roads falling under their area of influence. Under such circumstances, the less committed among the BJP supporters are unlikely to defy the Red diktat.
